HOME SAFTEY
Keeping your property in good condition reduces the risk of accidents, fires, damage or other issues that may arise from time to time. There are various ways for any property owner to reduce the risks of having to make an insurance claim.
1. Check your guttering regularily, this will reduce the chance of blockages and water over flowing.
2. Trees that are close to your property can damage your property, make sure overhanging branches are not touching your property. If the branches are from a neighbours tree, you have the right to trim the branches that overhang your property. Roots from large trees can undermine and damage the foundations of your property.
3. Keep all sheds or other garden buildings locked at all times, this will reduce the risk of items being removed/stolen.
4. Do not leave ladders outside your property, this can been used by intruders to climb onto garages or up to 1st floor window, keep ladders in your garage or locked up if kept outside.
5. During winter months, keep your heating on constant, the temperature can be left a low level, but enough to stop pipes from freezing up and bursting.
6. Keep your boiler or other heating appliances regularly serviced, Carbon Monoxide Alarms can be obtained from British Gas, stay safe.
7. On older properties, keep your chimney clear, regular sweeping is imperative.
8. Insulate your home, loft and wall insulation assist in heat loss and reduce your heating bills.
